Interested in nominating someone?

If you are interested in nominating a student or food science and technology professional in food science and technology, or allied field, for membership in the Phi Tau Sigma Honor Society, please complete the nomination reference form (link pending) and share the nomination form with the person you are nominating. All nominators must be active Phi Tau Sigma members.

The Phi Tau Sigma Membership Qualifications & Evaluation Committee reviews all membership nominations. The process duration from submitting the nomination form until the Membership Qualifications & Evaluation Committee decision is approximately one month. The nominators and nominees will be notified once the evaluation process is completed.

Our Purpose

Phi Tau Sigma is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and its purpose is to:

  • Recognize and honor the professional achievements of food scientists and technologists, especially students,

  • Encourage the application of fundamental scientific principles to food science and technology,

  • Stimulate and foster the exchange of scientific knowledge through meetings, lectures, electronic means, publications and other communication tools, and

  • Promote leadership in science, service, education and social programs for the SOCIETY membership.

Membership Qualifications & Evaluations

There are two classes of membership you can be nominated for: Student or Professional Member.

You must be nominated by two current members of Phi Tau Sigma.  It is a nomination process and not an application.  Students & professionals in food science and technology, and allied fields, can be nominated.
